In Poland, podology is a relatively new branch of science, dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the feet.
In other parts of the world, it has existed for many years as podology or podiatry. In podology, the following subspecialties can be distinguished:
- orthopedic podology / ortopodology / - deals with defects and deformities of the feet, both congenital and traumatic. It determines the impact of disorders in the area of the foot on the upper levels of the musculoskeletal system, i.e. knee, hip, spine
- therapeutic care podology - deals with dermatological problems (excessive sweating, eczema, ulcers) and professional nursing care (hyperkeratosis, calluses, corns, cracked heels, ingrown toenails, nail reconstruction, and others.)
